Remembering Michael G. Gartland, 1947-2018

Michael G. Gartland, our Managing Partner, passed away on April 20, 2018 following a brief bout with cancer.

Mike joined the law firm of Corbally, Gartland & Rappleyea, LLP (CGR) in 1973, and was made partner in 1979, specializing in banking and real estate law. Henceforth, his practice continues through his partner and son Patrick Gartland, who is the fourth generation of their family to be a partner at CGR.

Mike also served as a Trustee of the James J. McCann Charitable Trust, the McCann Foundation, Inc. and the Charlotte Cunneen-Hackett Charitable Trust. By and large, through his stewardship, numerous civic projects have benefited from these legacies including the Bardavon Theater, Marist College, the McCann Memorial Golf Course, Our Lady of Lourdes High School, and the Culinary Institute of America. Additionally, innumerable Dutchess County residents have benefited from scholarship programs, recreational opportunities and spiritual programming that were made possible by support received from the Foundation and the Trusts. He was also on the Board of Trustees at Marist College, was a former member and Vice Chairman of the City of Poughkeepsie Planning Board, and was a former member and Chairman of the Dutchess County Resources Recovery Agency.

His practice continues through his partner and son Patrick Gartland, who is the fourth generation of their family to be a partner at CGR. You can rest assured that your matters will receive the same level of attention and care that they did under Mike. If you would like to chat, meet or have lunch, please feel free call or email Pat at (845) 240-7300 or ptg@cgrlaw.com.
